Each year, the BARMER, one of the largest health insurance providers in Germany, publishes a hospital report focusing on a specific topic. This year’s topic is Patient Blood Management – a decision which made as very happy. Data of approximately 9.2 million BARMER clients are evaluated regarding the quantity of iron deficiency (anemia) and potential effects on requirements of blood transfusions and postoperative outcome.
